When I started to study nutrition it was because I knew that I truly needed to learn how to help myself. As I changed my diet, and became more active I began to see results. (Slowly, but surely.) I was so blown away by how much better I felt that I really wanted to find a way to help other people who wanted that for themselves. Because if I could do it - ANYONE could.
What I wasn't ready for was the realization that I WAS NOT done working on myself.
What the WHAT?!?
Just because I built the educational foundation, and did some tough work to make personal changes, it did NOT in fact keep me from being fully capable of going off the rails and slide back into my old, less-than-healthy habits. (Habits unbecoming to a "health coach" cough cough.)
So, the good news is that I do have the knowledge on what to do to get myself back on track. The bad news is that still doesn't mean making the healthy choice is always easy for me.
But, if I have learned anything it is that life isn't just a "before" and "after" picture. Real life keeps moving and changing, and it is up to us to adjust and adapt. I'm a health coach because there is something amazing about believing in someone until they can believe in themselves. And then once they do believe - watching them SOAR. I am a health coach because I believe that being healthy and feeling good in your body is about the best gift you can give to yourself and those that you love.
And yes, I am a health coach that is still learning to overcome the struggles of not being "perfect". But maybe that's because it's the best way to show you that you don't have to be perfect either. You may struggle to be healthy, but that never means it isn't worth it. Because it is. :)
You can live a healthy lifestyle in the real world without giving up everything that makes you happy.
