Well hello September, you foxy little minx!
I adore this time of year. I always have. (And it's not just because of my deep love for the Trapper Keepers that are stocked on shelves everywhere right now!)
There is something about the beginning of the school year that always feels like a fresh start to me. In a lot of ways I think it is way better than the first of the year.
So, in the spirit of this fresh start I am declaring September my month to focus on self-care. What does that mean? For me it means dialing in on all of the stuff I got WAY too lax about over the summer - like getting enough sleep, meal planning and prep, daily movement, and spending time with my friends.
I believe that taking time to take care of ourselves should never be seen as selfish. But I also know that I fall down on this front a lot. I don't know why we think that putting ourselves last is doing anyone any favors, yet we wear it like some kind of deranged badge of honor.
And speaking for myself here - I am SURE that I am much more pleasant to be around when I am rested/well fed/feeling confident and strong/having fun than when I'm not.
So here is to self-care September!! I hope that you will join along! Come on, what's the worst thing that could happen?? :)
