As we move from Summer to Fall the air gets crisper and the leaves begin to change. It is a truly beautiful time of year, and one of my personal favorites.
Until that fateful moment, the first chilly morning of autumn when I pull my jeans from the back of the closet and go to slip them on.
Hmm, that's weird. They feel a bit tight. A little tugging gets them all the way up, but zippering and buttoning them will require me to get horizontal. (And could possibly kill someone if that button gives.)
If you have ever found yourself in the similar situation, don't panic, instead see it as a well timed wake up call. A reminder NOT to spend the days leading up until New Year's Eve indulging in every single treat that comes your way. It won't make you feel better. Trust me.
I'm not a fan of the "all or nothing" mentality. No one eats perfectly all of the time, so save yourself a lot of grief and get comfortable with the fact that you will not ALWAYS be on the wagon. And that's okay. Seriously. But you have to pick your moments. There are less than 90 days until New Year's Eve. This is the season of parties and holiday traditions, and you can navigate it all with a PLAN.
Take a look at your calendar and pick the days that you give yourself a pass on being perfect. It might be your annual Halloween Party, Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Eve/Day, New Year's Eve... You get the drift. Map it out. On those days it's okay to indulge and enjoy. Then on all of the other days, the ones that aren't REAL celebrations or special occasions, you can pass on the random temptations because you know that those aren't the ones that are important to you. Use those days to your advantage and to make the healthiest choices for yourself. Healthy food, lots of water, and whatever activity/exercise you find makes you feel the best.
Knowing that you are in control will help keep you in control and allow you to enjoy everything about the holiday season while feeling your best!!
You can live a healthy lifestyle in the real world without giving up everything that makes you happy.
