Months ago there was a Groupon in my area for Crossfit. I've heard so much about it, and from everything I've heard it is an intense workout. It is also for those same reasons that I've been too scared to actually consider trying this madness.
But the Groupon was a super deal. I figured that this was as good a sign as any to give it a shot. So I bought the Groupon and sat on it for months. The closer we got to the Marathon, the more I was concerned that I'd hurt myself. So...now that the half marathon it over and done with, it was time to face this new fear.
Tonight was the big night. My first Basics class.
OH. MY. WORD.
I think my arms and legs are still shaking. It was hard and awesome at the same time. There were 8 of us in the class. Four men and four women. I think everyone was in their early 20's except for me and one of the other women. They were all super fit, and I was the last one to finish each drill. But I finished each and every one of them.
The drills were hard, but I think the most challenging thing was staying out of my own way with the mind games. I had to keep reminding myself to focus on my form, not the fact that I was the last one doing the drill.
I'm all set to go back on Thursday.
